Sutter County Community Memorial Museum is situated at 1333, Butte House Road, off the Golden State Highway in Yuba City. The museum preserves and tells the story of the region, as it evolved from the time of Native Americans to the present day. The museum offers a unique perspective on the history and transformation of the entire county. The displays include Maidu artifacts, remnants of California Gold Rush, an extensive collection of photographs, household items, agricultural tools, pre-colonization era baskets, and equipment are a treasure-trove that you will not find elsewhere.

About Community Memorial Museum

The museum is open from Tuesday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It opens a little later at 12 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and closes an hour early at 4 p.m. The museum remains closed on Monday. Admission to the museum is free to the public, and there are various events that are organized by private associations and public organizations from time to time. These may have an admission fee.

June will be hosting a Dinner Theater.

Tattooed and Tenacious, a retelling of Inked Women in California’s History is presently on till the 11thof March. The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards are almost a century-old tradition of recognizing talented young people from across the country. The museum would be hosting the awards for seven counties of Northern California. The museum will also host the Yuba College 90th Anniversary celebrations. The museum has a gift store where you can shop for books, gifts, nature jewelry, tote bags and fused glass plates, pendants and rings, assorted greeting cards, craft kits and toys among others.
